We are requesting appropriations in 2010 for the replacement of the "Heron Bridge". The bridge is the major route servicing the town of Heron Montana. The bridge is also the main route used by school buses, ambulance, law enforcement and fire service providers.
The existing bridge was constructed in 1920. In 1952 the bridge was moved to its present location in Heron, Montana. According to the Montana Department of Transportation, inspection records dated November 4, 2005 listed the structure as "functionally obsolete and eligible for replacement". It is an eminent failure bridge.
